The Wonderful Gift Of Being A Parent
It is a wonderful gift to be a parent and even though it is hard work, everything you put into being a parent is rewarded. At first you might have to spend a lot of money buying clothes and baby bath towels. There seems so much to buy and you wonder where you are going to get all the money from to be able to afford everything. It is good when you receive gifts from family and friends.
And get ready for the biggest change of all – your lifestyle. It’ll be nothing like you’ve ever known. However it’ll help make you a better person on the way to making you a better parent as you’ll soon discover the full extent of the meaning of “responsibility”.
You might not be able to sit round the dining room table together any more. The times you spent relaxing on the dining room chair could be gone now. The only thing you seem to be doing is feeding the baby.
It can be difficult having enough money to buy everything, but good friends will buy you things as well. Many people give others old baby clothes that they do not use anymore. It can be really good receiving hand me downs as it saves you money having to buy everything. At first it might seem like your life has been turned upside down.
Eventually you will get your time back as your child gets older, but at first it can be very difficult. Your time is spent changing nappies and feeding. If you choose to breast feed it can be equally tiring.
If you are breast feeding it can be much more stressful. Your baby might want to feed all of the time. You could consider expressing milk which can take the pressure off a bit. Using a double breast pump can be a good way of ensuring your baby is getting enough milk.
At the moment your baby needs feeding on demand and will tell you when their nappy is dirty, they want feeding or they need a cuddle. Although it is tempting to pick your baby up all the time. At first, they need rest and food. Suddenly you have someone that depends on you for every need that you give them. Although it is tiring it is also extremely rewarding and satisfying. There is no greater feeling than looking into the eyes of your new baby.
Thomas the tank Engine loses it.
