Is it okay to use tempera paint on a canvas that has a double layer of gesso?
I’m doing an art final that’s due on Thursday. My canvas is 22×28, but I only have Tempera paint. Will the paint stick to the canvas and not flake or peel off?
Sorry, but Tempera paint will crack and flake off gessoed canvas. You could mix it with some polymer (acrylic) medium and that will help in a pinch, but acrylic paint would be better.
If you must use the tempera, paint on illustration board, or even bristol board – either would be better than canvas.
