Sector 9 Longboard, can you buy any type of trunk set for the longboard or do they have to be the same brand?
I bought this sector 9 Longboard deck, bamboo series. I was looking at the sets for the trunks,bearings,wheels and the other stuff that comes with the set. My question is Do I Have to buy the trunk set of the same brand or can i used any other brand that is cheeper. such as blank, and how do i know if the trunks are for a longboard deck.
Truck bolt patterns are standard so you can use whatever you want. You need to make sure the axle width is correct though. Using too narrow of a truck can cause wheel bite, too wide can make it unwieldy to turn. Different trucks will have different turning characteristics too. I have a difficult time on my daughters Sector 9 because it’s turning radius is smaller than I like. This is because the truck is built differently than the trucks on my board, which are a set of old school Indy’s not specifically designed for longboards.
If you have friends with longboards take them for a spin a see what you like or don’t like in how they ride and then go from there.
