i want to paint my room with glitter ?
so i want to paint my room with glitter . i want it to be purple with silver glitter. i was wondering can i just buy a bucket of purple paint then mix in normal craft glitter ? the little circle shaped ones ? im on a budget ;/
they say that i can mix glitter into a bucket of clear glaze & just paint over my dry painted purple wall. but isnt “CLEAR GLAZE” expensive for a bucket ? ! & spray glitter paint ? sounds expensive & i dont want to spray it on my wall & have hella glitter covering my purple paint. help ?

I work at The Home Depot and worked in the paint department for a number of years, and I’ve also painted my niece’s bedroom with glitter as her Christmas present from me!
No matter if you are on a budget or what kind of glitter you have, always experiment first. That way, you can be comfortable with your own pace and skill level when it comes to putting the glitter on the wall.
I would start with the purple walls first. Just paint them as you would normally and let it dry overnight and you can re-coat the walls if needed. This is where you have 2 options, you can put the glitter onto the purple paint as soon as you just painted it (which is what I did for her room) or you can use your clear glaze as you wrote. Clear glaze actually isn’t all that expensive, it’s around the same price for a normal can of paint, and one quart actually does a 8 by 12 wall. I wouldn’t spray anything on your wall, just roll the glaze on and then throw the glitter onto wall or mix it in with the glaze. You can use the same roller and paint brushes you used on the purple wall, just cleaned out, of course.
If you decide to place glitter on your walls without the glaze by putting it on the purple walls when they are still wet, this is that experimentation I was telling you about. I threw my glitter on the walls, but it was a mess, so cleanup and prepwork with drop cloths are key. You can even sprinkle the glitter carefully on the roller or in the paint tray, but you would get unpredictable patterns and results.
Try it without glaze first in a little section, if it works great! If it’s not the results you want, you can mix some glitter with the clear glaze, using the same tools to save you a bit of money.
