Doug Wooden

Doug Wooden
Worried this toy may be a choking hazard?

Does anyone have the Melissa and Doug stacking rings? I bought them today for my daughter (for Christmas, so she’ll be 1 when she gets them). The packaging recommends for 18 months +. The smallest ring is about as wide as a toilet paper tube and is an inch thick. Should I return this toy and get the big plastic stacking rings? I just liked these better because they’re wooden, but now I’m concerned.

If you like these better, then remove the top ring from the stack until your daughter is old enough to not be putting stuff in her mouth.

I don’t know… If your daughter puts stuff in her mouth, then the wooden ones might hold germs more than the plastic ones that could be washed easily.

Red Dwarf: Series I

Red Dwarf: Series I

$11.99

Notoriously, and entirely appropriately, the original outline for Doug Naylor and Rob Grant’s comedy sci-fi series Red Dwarf was sketched on the back of a beer mat. When it finally appeared on British television in 1988, the show had clearly stayed true to its roots, mixing jokes about excessive curry consumption with affectionate parodies of classic sci-fi. Indeed, one of the show’s most endearin…

Red Dwarf: Series II

Red Dwarf: Series II

$11.90

The second series of Red Dwarf was, as Danny John-Jules says in the accompanying DVD commentary, “the one where it really went good.” First broadcast in the autumn of 1988, these six episodes showcase Rob Grant and Doug Naylor’s sardonic, sarcastic humor to perfection. The cast had gelled and the occasionally erratic tone of the first series–which was made a little too much in the shadow of Dark …
