Crafts for Kids – Make a Headboard out of Recycled Materials
Crafting is not only fun filled activity but it is also something that helps your children learn. For example, crafts for kids that call for colored paper and crayons can teach them hues and colors of the rainbow. With the use of scissors, you can help them cut out letters that can make them be more familiar with the alphabet.
So if you want to get into crafting with your kids, here is a project that you can work on – a headboard design out of recycled materials.
Materials needed:
- Cardboard out of thick boxes
- Colored paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Pencils
- Colored felt tip pens
- Double stick tape (for displaying)
- Printable alphabet templates (optional)
Note: The beauty of crafts for kids is that you can alter the materials depending on what is readily available. For example, if you do not have thick cardboard, you can also use craft foam or any other material that provides your project some depth.
Instructions:
- If you are using a template, print out the letters that you will need to spell out your child’s name. However, if a template is not available, you can always draw the letters directly at the back of the material that you will be using. As you draw the letters, ask your child to identify the letters one by one.
- For safety reasons, cut the cardboard out yourself and pass it on your children to decorate. Tell them that they can use any material on the table. Encourage them to draw out their favorite shapes and use their favorite colors.
- Once the letters are done individually, lay them out on the table, spelling out his name and ask him to read it out loud.
- Just like any crafts for kids, display their work of art on their headboard or walls with the use of double stick tape.
