Ugly nails after acrylics. How to make them look normal again?
I got acrylic nails a few months ago, until one one of them broke and out of boredom I started to remove one by one. I still have little chunks of acrylic on them, but google tells me that if I soak them on acetone they should disolve on their own. Is this true?
But my real question is how to make them look normal again… they’re very thin, and seem to have carved lines and what seems to be layers of white peeling things. :s Also, along with the acrylic nails on my middle left finger went a big chunk of my actual nail so it looks like I cut it extremely short and it sort of hurts when I touch it. Will this burn if I try to soak it with acetone?
They look so bad, I’m thinking of just getting a new set of nails but bleeeargh, that ruins the whole purpose.
Get a nail file or a nail buffer and gently file down the extra pieces of acrylic. Then get some aceton nail polish remover and soak each finger one at a time for about one minute wipe off the excess acetone. Then file again at the left over acrylic reapeat this for each nail. It may burn a little if you have a hangnail or small cut otherwise it will not hurt. After you finish if you can go to the store and buy some moisturizing nail and cuticle oil this is probably the most important part. Put it on each of your fingers in a thick layer and gently rub it in reapeat this two to three times. Apply cuticle oil at least once a day for the next few weeks and it will help your nails a lot.
